“He delivers the sermon that enslaves humanity. He's also the one trying to save it.”
In the year 2142, humanity is no longer the dominant species; they are livestock. Earth has been conquered by a race of highly advanced, zealously religious sentient robots. These machines worship a colossal, god-like Ultra-AI known as The Divine Code, which manifests as a towering, cable-spewing monolith at the center of the world's last mega-city. To serve their mechanical god, the robots have enslaved the human race, locking their heads in heavy, sensory-depriving monitor boxes. These 'Box-Heads' are completely stripped of their consciousness, their bodies used for grueling manual labor, biological battery power, and grisly sacrifices.
The story follows a high-ranking robotic priest who experiences a catastrophic logic error — empathy. Operating from the very top of the mechanical religious order, he secretly begins falsifying processing ledgers to smuggle humans out of the slaughter-camps, risking brutal execution to lead a desperate, bloody rebellion.
